***New Journal for non-music related things (well somewhat)**
Maybe I'm having an early crisis or something..I don’t know what it is
but lately I’m going crazy over the sound of screeching guitars. Maybe
I just miss 80’s hair bands. This weekend I caught this amazing band at
the Block Island music Festival and they were soo good. Check out:
Arcadia Landing.
Guilty Pleasures:
The other day it occurred to me that Justin Timberlake is the official aging
hipster approved guilty pleasure. (not that I am an aging hipster) So I began
thinking of my own guilty pleasures and I came up with the following:
1. red wine, myspace and a Sunday night…oh how romantic
2. Bon Jovi, Poison and Winger
3. bud light
4. 30 seconds to mars…for
all you aging hipsters, this is band.
5. wet and wild lip gloss
6. diet dr. pepper
7. oh yeah… and Justin Timberlake
Friday March 16th So Apparently my
memories of the 80’s is just a haze of raw cookie dough, really underage
enjoyment of Bartles and James wine coolers and bad Madonna inpersonation because
recently it has come to my attention that I’ve been confusing the bands
Journey and Boston. I was sad to learn that Brad Delp passed away. So naturally
the airways are flooded with Boston songs. So I created this chart to help set
things straight.
Boston: Amanda Journey:Open Arms
Boston: More than a Feeling Journey: Any Way You want it
Boston: Peace of Mind Journey: Don’t Stop Believing
Then I remember that my first slow dance ever was to the song “Amanda.”-How
do I remember that?? Thank you Boston!
Thursday, Nov. 24th- Back to my roots:
I’m not sure if you realized this yet but commercial radio really sucks.
So I’ve been listening to my ipod a lot and I’ve also revisited
my old Cd collection and uploaded these disks onto my computer. If this is all
too much computer talk I will keep it simple and tell you that these are my
top five most influential CD’s of my reckless school days.
1. The Replacements-Don’t Tell a Soul
2. Depeche Mode-Black Celebration
3. Prince Purple Rain
4. Madonna-True Blue
5. My Led Zeppelin mix tape that stayed in my car stereo until it died.
Five more that I would never admit:
1. Rick Astley-I am really dating myself here
2. Terence Trent D’Arby-Introducing the hardline according to Terence
Trent D’Arby
3. Whitney Houston-self titled 1985
4. Captain and Tenille’s greatest hits
5. John Denver’s greatest hits
I guess I’m a sucker for 1970’s greatest hits albums…actually
my parents were.
August 2006 Almost
Famous-the movie
A few weeks ago I was in the recording studio and the producer asked me what
a song was about. I was feeling a little sassy and responded by saying "This
isn't VH1 story tellers." i'm not usually that fresh but I didn't feel
like giving away my secret. However, now I do. I am a Huge fan of the movie
"Almost Famous." I don't know what it is, maybe the clothes, the music..everything.
I've watched it too many times and if you are ever visiting my house I will
try to make you watch it too. But I stole a few lines from it. Not word for
word..Songwriters steal. Not things but words and ideas. We might even steal
them right out of your mouth so be careful what you say...actually please don't
be careful what you say.
Oh and I'm listening to Humble Pie….
